Each year, we here at CGMagazine have watched The Game Awards 2023 with a fine-toothed comb to gather the exciting announcements and deliver them to the audience in one convenient spot.

Every year, The Game Awards (hosted by Geoff Keighley) brings a myriad of excitement to the global video game fanbase with many new announcements and world premieres that set the stage for the following year, while also importantly acknowledging the titles of the previous year.

The Game Awards 2023 seeks to build on the previous year, and although the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI trailer launched earlier in the week along with the exciting Day of the Devs Digital showcase, there is still plenty to remain excited about for the upcoming year in gaming. From massive remakes from even bigger studios like Resident Evil 4, all the way to Indie darling Dredge, 2023 was a year filled with a haul of quality titles and The Game Awards 2023 has stoked the flames of hype for the future by making numerous announcements and world premieres which can all be seen below.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons – Remake World Premiere

From 505 Games, a remake of the coop title Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is coming. Initially released in 2013, the remake comes with updated graphics and mechanics for this generation of consoles. The title launches on February 28, 2024.

Pony Island 2 Panda Circus – World Premiere

A world premiere of the next game from Daniel Mullins (the creator of Inscryption) sees players enter a type of fever dream with unclear direction, like the other games in the Daniel Mullins catalogue (like the original Pony Island). Fans will have to wait for more information, as Pony Island 2 Panda Circus is set to launch at a future date in 2025

The Rise of the Golden Idol – World Premiere

A small teaser for the red thread detective game, The Rise of the Golden Idol was shown. Although details are still sparse on this new title, the teaser raises more questions for when the developer reveals more information soon.

Harmonium: The Musical

A new game from The Odd Gentlemen embraces accessibility in a brand-new way, with a musical at The Game Awards 2023. Harmonium: The Musical bends rhythm and adventure gameplay to provide an adventure accessible to everyone. More info can be found on the official Harmonium website.

Windblown – World Premiere

From the creators of Dead Cells, Windblown is a cooperative adventure with charming cartoon-styled characters that get dismembered in frightening ways. Motion Twin is launching Windblown in Early Access in 2024.

Thrasher – World Premiere

The next world premiere at The Game Awards 2023, is from the same composer from the 2016 hit Thumper, Thrasher uses music and intense visuals to push the player forwards. Thrasher is scheduled to launch in 2024.

Another world premiere presented at The Game Awards 2023 is 15 years in the making, from 2D Boy, World of Goo 2 is finally coming in 2024.

MetaPhor: ReFantazio – World Premiere

To close out the beginning of The Game Awards 2023 opening, Atlus has finally given fans a new look at their newest offering. From the creators of Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5,  comes Metaphor: ReFantazio. This Action-RPG features the same hit composer as the Persona series and utilizes a similar art style to the Persona games. Fans will have to wait until a TBD date in Fall 2024 for this one.

Exodus – World Premiere

The world premiere of the first-ever video game starring Matthew McConaughey is Exodus. From Archetype Entertainment, comes a new Sci-Fi title that introduces humanity’s greatest threat, the Celestials. More info will surely follow soon.

God of War Ragnarok Valhalla FREE DLC – World Premiere

A new FREE DLC is coming out for God of War Ragnarok, and it features roguelike elements for Kratos. Fans won’t have to wait long, as the Free DLC launches globally on December 12.

Big Walk – World Premiere

From the developers of Untitled Goose Game, comes the next title called Big Walk from House House Studios. Although the trailer was brief, players can connect with their friends to go on a walk together through the Australian bushland inspired by Wilsons Promontory National Park. More info is coming in 2024, for a release scheduled in 2025.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II – World Premiere

The next installment of the Ninja Theory Developed Hellblade series, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II gameplay was shown after a spectacular musical performance from Hilo. The trailer explores the anguish Senua will have to contend with in the sequel when it launches in 2024.

A very brief glimpse world premiere of a title that features heavy parkour elements was shown next, called Kemuri. Fans can find more information at their official site.

Rise of the Ronin

From Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja is a new look at the title that debuted back at Summer Games Fest 2023. Rise of the Ronin, a new action-RPG launches on March 22, 2024.   

OD – World Premiere

A new suspenseful title is in the world premiere from Hideo Kojima, called OD. Not much is known about the new title, but it is in development by Kojima Productions, and it is listed as an Xbox Studios title. Featuring actors Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schaefer, Kojima’s new title seems geared toward fans and their reaction, ‘screaming’. Touted as a ‘new form of media,’ OD is collaborated on by Jordan Peele, and more information will undoubtedly arrive soon regarding the ‘completely immersive’ OD.

Jurassic Park Survival – World Premiere

The next world premiere at The Game Awards 2023 features the world of Jurassic Park in a suspense-filled first-person perspective game titled Jurassic Park Survival. More info will arrive at a later date.

A new trailer for the upcoming Warframe: Whisper in the Walls was then revealed at the Game Awards 2023, but even more surprisingly, fans will be able to get ahold of it tomorrow, when Whispers in the Walls launches on December 8.

From the studio that brought fans Dishonored and Deathloop, Bethesda has revealed the new title Marvel’s Blade, and during Blade’s 50th anniversary that’s when the teaser was revealed, and it is in collaboration with Arkane. More info will follow soon!

Last Sentinel – World Premiere

A world premiere brief teaser trailer from Lightspeed Studios was then shown, for a new title called Last Sentinel. More information will be given later for fans anticipating the new sci-fi title.

The First Descendant – Trailer

A third-person looter shooter powered by Unreal Engine 5 premiered at The Game Awards 2023, and fans got a first look at The First Descendant. Fans can wishlist the game now from Steam, and it will arrive at some point in 2024.

Zenless Zone Zero – World Premiere

A 3D action adventure title with anime-based graphics called Zenless Zone Zero is coming in 2024.

Den of Wolves – World Premiere

An update on a title revealed at the Game Awards 2017, was revealed next by 10 Chambers from the creators of Payday and Payday 2, comes Den of Wolves. This new heist title really ups the ante, and fans can expect more information this year.

Exoborne – Cinematic Trailer

Crafted by the creators of The Division, Exoborne was revealed back at Gamescom, and the brief teaser shows some of the trouble players can get into. More info will come soon, and fans can visit the Sharkmob official website for more as it arrives.

Asgard’s Wrath II – Launch Trailer

The latest trailer for Asgard’s Wrath II was then shown at the Game Awards 2023, and it shows what happens when Loki is the bad guy. Asgard’s Wrath II is a VR-exclusive title and launches on the Meta Quest 2 and 3 on December 15.  

Light No Fire – World Premiere

From the makers of No Man’s Sky comes a new game from Hello Games Studio, the world premiere trailer of Light No Fire. This new adventure is completely multiplayer, and gives fans a new look at Earth, if it were less real-life and more fantastical. One thing is certain, adventurers can ride dragons, horses and other wildlife while exploring the surface of the new planet, seemingly also called Earth. Light No Fire is independently developed and more info will be made available soon.

Stormgate – World Premiere

A new title by Frost Giant Studios was premiered, featuring Simu Liu as a voiced character. The new title is an RTS that asks you to ‘enlist your friends and unleash your armies.’ Stormgate is coming to Steam Early Access in the Summer of 2024.

Final Fantasy XVI Echoes of the Fallen & The Rising Tide DLC – World Premiere

The latest Final Fantasy mainline title, Final Fantasy XVI is set to receive DLC in the coming future called Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, which extends the story before the end of the game. Echoes of the Fallen is out now, but The Rising Tide launches in Spring 2024.
