The Pokémon TV App Is Ending After 10 Years

The Pokémon Company has announced the Pokémon TV app — which allows fans to watch Pokémon content for free, will be shutting down in the coming months.

In a new post over on the official Pokémon Company website, it has been officially announced, that the Pokémon TV app will be ending. As of right now, fans can no longer download the app from app storefronts, but it will remain usable until it finally shutters in March 2024. The Pokémon TV app launched way back in February 2013, so the closing of the app will end a decade of service for Pokémon fans globally.

The Pokémon Company statement reads “The Pokémon TV app and website will sunset and the service will end on March 28, 2024. Beginning on January 8, 2024, fans will no longer be able to download the Pokémon TV app from the App Store, Google Play, Roku Channel Store, Amazon Appstore, Nintendo eShop, and Pokemon.com” so fans will have until March 28 to use the app if it is still installed, otherwise, fans can no longer download the app.

The loss of the broad-reaching app can be a huge blow to fans who regularly visit. Considering the Pokémon Company has provided an extensive list of where to watch the content that will no longer be platformed on the app and the rising cost of streaming platforms, it could end up costing fans a lot more to watch their favourite Pokémon TV content. Especially considering the app was free to download and free to use without any payment necessary.

It’s worth noting this is the second app the Pokémon Company has decided to shut down in the past few months, as they have also shuttered the ability to use their previous Pokémon TCG Card Dex. While the Pokémon TV app will no longer be usable after March 28, fans can head over to the official Pokémon post for more information and the list of where to watch all of the series on other platforms.
